BBYO is our youth group for 8th through 12th grade, starting January 1st of 8th grade. Wilkes-Barre’s chapter is part of the Liberty Region of BBYO.
Social Programming
There are many opportunities for chapter bonding experiences. We typically meet once a week usually for meetings on Sunday. Our popular events range from bowling and ice skating to game nights and AZA and BBG sleepovers.
Social Action
Our chapter participates in various social action events throughout the year. Global Shabbat is held in December and teens participate in services at our local synagogues. Our chapter also chooses a “Stand Up Cause”. This is a specific cause or issue that the teens advocate and support throughout the year. In May the chapter participates in J-Serve. This is a BBYO International Day of Service meant to highlight their Stand Up Cause and give back to our community through a service project.
Fund Raising
On Sundays during the basketball season our teens staff the Snack Stand which helps the chapter for regional conventions and travel. Also throughout the year different fundraisers are held to support the chapter’s Stand Up Cause.
Liberty Region Conventions
There are many opportunities for the teens to connect with teens from other cities. Weekend conventions are held throughout the calendar year hosted by different cities within the region. Each convention offers a different theme ranging from a new member convention, Tournament weekend & a Spring weekend.
