Sue and Allan Kluger Community Garden

Gardens heal the mind and spirit and bring food to the table.

Our 10,000 square foot outdoor garden – a place of beauty and contemplation, unfenced and open to all, is located in what was once a vast asphalt supermarket parking lot. Adjacent to the Illumination Early Learning Center playground, the Kluger Community Garden is also conveniently located alongside the popular Susquehanna River Levee Trail, an asset to both the Friedman JCC and the community at large. In its first full year of operation, garden programming will include therapeutic gardening in raised beds accessible to all ages, outdoor worship and seasonal programming, and additional plantings to add beauty and multi-sensory stimuli to the area. The garden will be maintained by Friedman JCC staff and volunteers; garden planning will be directed by a committee of member-volunteers.

The Sue and Allan Kluger Community Garden, along with the rain garden and Illumination Early Learning Center learning space provide connection to nature, outdoor beauty, and stormwater management.

As the Kluger Community Garden becomes established and successful, opportunities exist for garden expansion and connection to forested natural green spaces on the Friedman JCC site. Available for event rentals.
