Linn McDonald teaches Dance for People with Parkinson’s Disease (Dance for PD) at the Friedman Jewish Community Center. She successfully completed the Dance for PD Dance Teacher Training Course at the Mark Morris Dance Center, Brooklyn, New York in 2019.
Linn has owned the Linn McDonald School of Dance in Scranton, PA (where she was born and raised) for 43 years. She graduated from Marywood University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Arts in 1982 and continued her education at Temple University where she received a Master of Dance Education degree. She has taught dance at many Universities including Temple, Marywood, University of Scranton, Penn State, and Rollins college in Winter Park, Florida. Linn was the Dance Minor Program director at Marywood University for ten years.
She directed and choreographed musical theatre productions for many years at Pocono Playhouse, Mountainhome, PA, Bucks County Playhouse, New Hope , PA, and Woodloch Pines in the Poconos. As Director and Choreographer of the Helen Hayes Youth Theatre in Nyack New York for six years, Linn had the honor of teaching Anna Baryshnikov, daughter of famed ballet dancer, Michail Baryshnikov.
Most recently, Linn spent a month in China, teaching dance to students and teachers at Universities in Chengdu, Kunming and Beijing.
