Our Friedman JCC and other JCC’s around the nation are focused on bringing communities and people together. Our mission to strengthen Jewish community and enhance the vitality of Jewish life is founded upon recognizing our responsibilities to one another.
I hope we are drawing inevitably closer to the end of this pandemic and as we approach a year since it became a central part of our lives, the need to be particularly attentive to aspects of communal responsibility holds greater significance than ever.
It is my understanding that when the JCC leadership envisioned moving from Wilkes-Barre to a new JCC in Kingston, the thinking was for the Jewish Community to come together and strengthen one another. With that in mind, I am very happy to share some very special upcoming Jewish Holiday Collaborations:
• The JCC along with Temple Israel and Temple B’nai B’rith is planning a Virtual Hamantaschen program with Rabbi Carolan Glatstein on Monday, February 22 at 4:00pm.
• The JCC along with Temple B’nai B’rith, Temple Israel, and Ohav Zedek will be offering a Family Fun Trivia Night on February 27 at 7:00pm.
• The JCC and Fork Over Love will have a Special Passover holiday meal distribution in conjunction with Temple Israel and Temple B’nai B’rith on March 30.
• Midrasha Purim shalach manot bags will be packaged at the JCC and is sponsored by Midrasha, Temple Israel, Temple B’nai B’rith, Friedman JCC, and Kingston Kosher. Friedman JCC has worked in conjunction with Midrasha to facilitate the distribution of the Tu B’Shevat and the Purim bags.
The strength of a community can be measured by the extent to which its members embrace their part in something larger; their commitment to extending themselves to support one another in a moment of need or opportunity; and to being there, ready to lend a hand, contribute an idea, hold open a door, and make people feel welcome.
Please join me in strengthening our NEPA community while enhancing the vibrancy of Jewish life.
Sincerely,
Gary Bernstein
Chief Executive Officer
