[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Passover Yoga: An Embodied Journey from Mitzrayim – Led by Amanda Davidowitz of Inspired Heart Wellness

Saturday, April 27 from 10 – 11:30 am

Minimum Donation $20 (All proceeds will benefit the gimp )(lanyard making) class at the JCC camp to honor the memory of Esther Davidowitz.)

During Passover, Jewish people relive the story of their ancestors being liberated from slavery in Egypt. Mitzrayim, the Hebrew name for Egypt, can be translated to mean “constriction” or “the narrow place.” In this gentle yoga class, we will take an introspective “journey from Mitzrayim,” exploring the themes of Passover and moving from constriction and narrowness toward freedom and expansion in our bodies, minds and hearts. This class is an hour and a half long and will include time for discussion and journal reflections. Wear comfortable clothing and bring your own yoga mat (there will be a few mats available to borrow), journal/notebook and pen. If you have sensitive knees you are welcome to bring a yoga blanket (or towel). If you have a set of yoga blocks please bring them with you, there is a limited supply available at the JCC.

Accessibility: This yoga practice may incorporate supine, prone, sitting, and/or standing postures. You should be able to comfortably move between sitting and standing without assistance to participate. Modifications will be offered and you are always invited to do what feels best for your body. Previous experience with yoga is helpful but not required. If you have any questions feel free to email Amanda at inspiredheartwellness@gmail.com.

Bio: Amanda Davidowitz (she/her) is a perpetual spiritual seeker, yoga nerd and self-growth enthusiast. She loves to combine positive psychology, yoga, and other mindfulness practices with Jewish traditions in order to create new, meaningful rituals and experiences. Amanda studied yoga at the Kripalu School of Yoga, Yoga for All, and Yandara Yoga Institute and is a certified positive psychology coach.

Pilates @ The Friedman JCC
Apr 29 @ 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Pilates @ The Friedman JCC

Based on the works of Joseph Pilates, our mat pilates class will help improve general fitness and over-all well-being by concentrating on strengthening the core (belly, back, and butt).  Posture, balance, and flexibility are improved.

Pilates also focuses on the mind-body connection.  While doing various pilates exercises, your mind needs to be aware of your breathing and the way the body moves.

Because pilates can be modified to provide either a gentle strength training program or a challenging workout, it is suitable for beginners as well as people who exercise regularly.
We’ll provide the mats as well as light hand weights and therabands when needed.
