“History of Wilkes-Barre and the Wyoming Valley: Part II” is a five-part series exploring the people, events, and stories that shaped our region. This second series features topics including the history of Wilkes-Barre through portrait art, 250 years of local architecture, Revolutionary War veterans of Wilkes-Barre, influential women of the Wyoming Valley, and a documentary presentation on the Agnes Flood of 1972.
Tony Brooks, Director of WBPS
Tony Brooks is the executive director of the Wilkes-Barre Preservation Society and curator of the 1793 Zebulon Butler House Museum, the oldest house in Wilkes-Barre. Brooks has been a leader in historic preservation and teaching local history for the last 23 years. He is a recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution’s Founders Award for Patriotism for his efforts to promote history and historic preservation.
