Dear Friends,
During these past few months, The Friedman JCC has seen several operational successes that we can all feel good about but have at the same time revealed how much further we have yet to go, the opportunities that have emerged from this pandemic – for strategic thinking and planning, for pursuing effectiveness and efficiency, and for prioritizing sustainability.
With respect to our Capital Fundraising Campaign, we had an obligation to pay down $1 million toward our Construction Loan with our bank by the end of December 2020. I am happy to report that we made the final payment to the bank last week which satisfies our loan agreement for 2020. However, our next challenge will be this year (2021) when we need to satisfy loan payments totaling $2.5 million. Your help and assistance in helping us achieve this goal would be greatly appreciated.
I want to share with you the great news that the JCC was recently awarded a $1 million RACP grant from the State. This will allow us to make significant infrastructure improvements at our campsite. Our Committee is getting together soon to outline next steps. Please let Senator Lisa Baker of Lehman Township know how much we all appreciate her leadership and support in helping us secure this grant!
Chuck Cohen, Chair of the Strategic Planning committee along with committee members consisting of Leamor Kahanov, David Schwager, Fred Levy, Bill Grant and Steve Davidowitz and staff are developing a business implementation and growth plan in the following three priority areas: Early Learning Center, Membership and Sports & Wellness/Camp. The work and wisdom of this committee will hopefully assist us in our work to a financially sustainable future.
Finally, please let my staff or I know if you are interested in joining one of our many volunteer committees. You can truly assist the Friedman JCC staff by offering your time and talents. With your assistance, our JCC will grow and flourish as we move through these unprecedented times.
In closing, I want to extend my best wishes to you and your loved ones for a safe and happy new year filled with good health.
Sincerely,
Gary Bernstein
Chief Executive Officer
